Why They Came Here

“From the beginning, a number of factors combined to bring Wheeling Nisshin to Brooke County. It started with a partnership with Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, already based in the upper Ohio Valley. In the process of site selection, there was also consideration given to Ohio and Pennsylvania locations. However, with the tremendous rail and barge opportunities, and the availability of a skilled workforce…we found this area to best suit our needs. At the time, Governor Rockefeller played a significant role in providing tax incentives from the state, and we have worked well with Brooke County and Follansbee city governments.”

Ergon - West Virginia, Inc.

“Ergon bought the former Quaker State refinery to expand it’s product slate and customer base. Hancock County is a great location for this operation because it offers a skilled workforce, a friendly business climate and efficient transportation to access to both our raw materials (Appalachian crude oil) and our customers.“
